Cairo University Students Participating In the Simulation Model of COP 27

    Cairo University continues its active participation in the COP27, where the university delegation participated in a session entitled: “Youth and Innovation: University Students and Climate Action”, on the sidelines of the celebration of Youth Day and the Future Generation at the conference, in the presence and participation of Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment and Ms. Leslie Reed USAID Mission Director, and Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdelsadek. Cairo University Vice President for Community Service and Environment Development Affairs. .

    Prof. Dr. Mohamed Othman AlKhosht, President of Cairo University, explained that a distinguished group of Cairo University students participating in the climate summit simulation model reviewed during the session their successful experience and the extent to which they benefited from the simulation model, as well as some innovative ideas and solutions to climate problems, pointing to the university’s interest in organizing a simulation model Climate Summit for students to expand their perceptions about the concepts of climate change and provide them with administrative expertise and negotiation skills, which will qualify them to participate efficiently in international forums and understand global issues that affect the future of the earth.
    Prof. Dr. Mohamed Sami AbdelSadek reviewed the role of the university through its various programs in enhancing the role of youth in climate action, pointing out that the university launched many initiatives, competitions and simulation models, as well as organizing seminars and workshops that dealt with various issues related to reducing harmful effects of climate change and adaptation to it.

    Noting that Cairo University organized a simulation model for COP27, with the participation of about 200 male and female students who were trained through lectures and workshops by experts in climate, environment, governance, entrepreneurship, economics and gender issues, media, and strategic communication, in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, USAID, the National Anti-Corruption Academy, the National Institute for Sustainable Development, and the Economic Governance Activity.
