    Dr. Ayman Ashour the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research participated, in a session called "Redesigning Science, Technology and Innovation Strategies in a Changing World", which was held as part of COP27. The session was moderated by Dr. Mahmoud Sakr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and the scientific coordinator of the Science Day at COP 27. The session discussed the necessary of reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, adaptation through green innovations, stimulating local communities, and building awareness.
    The session also discussed a number of important issues, including: how to achieve sustainable development for local communities in light of the challenges of climate change, the role of universities in shaping future generations and the economics of a green economy, and the role of developed countries in combating climate change, and a number of proposals were reviewed on stimulating regional cooperation to reduce climate change.     During the session, the participants stressed the importance of achieving voluntary carbon reduction, and pointed out that facing the climate change crisis and reducing emissions cannot only be achieved through innovative and technological solutions and legislative amendments , but also rather requires economic and viable solutions, as well as increasing global awareness of the causes and effects of climate change, And highlighting appropriate climate solutions for local communities, as well as the need for cooperation between educational and research institutions, non-governmental and religious organizations in confronting the climate issue, and an Egyptian success story on stimulating the voluntary reduction of carbon emissions in the agricultural sector through the use of simple technologies and awareness for small farmers and financial incentives for small farmers. It was also proposed to spread the project across the African continent under the title Africa Farm for Climate, and to benefit from the advantages of carbon credit and carbon trading. .

    The discussions also ended with stressing the importance of establishing new mechanisms and partnerships for Arab-African cooperation to address climate change issues.
    Many participated in the session like, Dr. Michael Socles, a European expert in environmental sciences, and a professor at the University of Athens, Greece, and Dr. Mona Namir, Scientific Adviser to the State of Canada and Professor at the University of Ottawa, Mr. Helmy Abouleish, President of SEKEMs Group and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Heliopolis University, and Dr. Abdul Majeed bin Amara, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils.
