Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received Mr. Asdaa Kotani, Vice President of Springer Nature International Publishing, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides, with the aim of supporting researchers and improving the quality of scientific research in Egypt.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister stressed the Ministry’s interest in increasing the publication of Egyptian scientific research in international periodicals, noting that this is one of the most important pillars of improving the quality of scientific research in the universities, institutes and research bodies affiliated with the Ministry in accordance with the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research 2030, by providing support incentives for researchers, developing the infrastructure for scientific research, and enhancing international cooperation with international publishing houses in the field of scientific research.

Dr. Ayman Ashour pointed out that the Ministry’s efforts in the field of scientific publishing have resulted in positive results, as the number of Egyptian scientific research published in international scientific journals has increased by a large percentage compared to previous years, stressing that the Ministry will continue its efforts to enhance scientific publishing in Egyptian universities, in order to improve the quality of scientific research in Egypt, and enhancing the reputation and scientific standing of Egyptian universities.

The Minister praised the efforts of the international Springer Nature Foundation in the field of research and analysis of information by working with various relevant institutions around the world, praising the existing cooperation between the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and international publishing houses, led by the Springer Foundation, which contributed to achieving many achievements for universities and research centers at the level of scientific publishing and international classifications, he appreciated the role of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) in providing the necessary scientific resources for Egyptian scientists.

For his part, Mr. Asdaa Kotani expressed his happiness with the close relationship between the Springer Nature Foundation and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank over the past years, which has resulted in the excellence of Egyptian researchers in the field of international publishing and the quality of Egyptian scientific research, as the Springer Foundation has published many research papers by Egyptians researchers during the year 2023, stressing the Foundation’s keenness to support Egyptian researchers in cooperation with the Egyptian Knowledge Bank as the main knowledge center in Egypt.

Methods and strategies that contribute to the advancement of the scientific research system in Egypt were discussed, as well as marketing research and building capabilities by providing scientific research tools, which provide accurate and documented information about the classification of Egyptian universities.
