Salwa El-Awadly Dean of Mass Communication Attends Science Day Celebration

Professor Salwa El-Awadly, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University, participated in the eighteenth celebration of Science Day at Cairo University. The celebration was held at the Grand Hall of Cairo University, under the auspices of Professor Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Mohamed Al-Khosht, President of the University. The celebration honored a number of ministers, public figures, and 60 of the university`s scientists, thinkers, and researchers who received state and university awards of various kinds in various scientific fields for the year 2022, in appreciation of their giving and efforts in various scientific and humanitarian fields, and the achievements they have achieved in scientific and research forums at local and international levels, and in confirmation of the status of science and scientists in the Egyptian state.

The sidelines of the Science Day celebration witnessed the honoring of Professor Magy El-Halwany, the former dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University, for winning the Woman of Distinction Award in the field of social sciences. The ceremony, which was held during the celebration, was attended by a large number of ministers, governors, presidents of public and private universities, senior public figures and state officials, vice presidents of the university, deans of faculties, faculty members, and students.

The ceremony began with a commemorative photo of the university council, followed by the entrance of the university council procession in a parade to the Grand Hall, then the national anthem, the recitation of verses from the Qur`an, by Sheikh Mahmoud Al-Khosht, then a documentary film about the International University of Cairo, followed by a speech by Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadiq, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, then a speech by Dr. Mohamed Al-Khosht, President of the University, then a speech by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, then the ceremony of honoring guests and scientists of the university began, followed by a concert by the Cairo University Student Orchestra.

For her part, Professor Salwa El-Awadly, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University, expressed her great happiness for the honoring of Professor Magy El-Halwany, the former dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University, praising the efforts of Cairo University under the leadership of Professor Mohamed Osman Al-Khosht, which elevates the value of honoring the university`s professors and giving them all the deserved place. She added that this is in line with the values that Cairo University upholds and is one of the ways to its leadership and prestige throughout its years of establishment since 1907.

Regarding the honoring of Professor Magy El-Halwany, Professor Salwa El-Awadly, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University, said that the deserved honor comes as a result of the efforts of the former dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, who, through her efforts in participating in public work, sought to make many distinguished contributions, as she held many positions, including member of the Egyptian Shura Council, member of the Egyptian Football Association, member of the Board of Trustees of the Radio and Television Union, member of the Book Committee at the Supreme Council of Culture, Vice President of the Committee of Media Studies at the Supreme Council of Universities, and dean of many private Egyptian faculties of mass communication
