Among the 5,000 journals reviewed in the ARCIF report:
25 scientific journals from Cairo University have secured top positions in terms of impact factors and citations.
Journals from both the Faculty of Economics and Political Science and the Faculty of Mass Communication have claimed the top three Arab positions.
Prof Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek stated: "The excellence of Cairo University`s scientific journals is due to their commitment to international standards. We will continue to support our university`s researchers."
Prof Mahmoud El-Sa’eed added: "The distinction of our scientific journals reflects the capabilities of our university`s researchers and will contribute to raising our university`s rankings in international classifications."
Cairo University continues its advancement in Arab international rankings, citation rates, and research impact. The ninth annual report of the Arab Citation & Impact Factor (Arcif) announced the results of its examination and study of data from more than 5,000 titles of Arab scientific and research journals in various specialisations issued by approximately 1,500 scientific and research institutions in the Arab world.
A recent report has revealed that 25 peer-reviewed scientific journals published by Cairo University have successfully met international standards for impact factors.
Furthermore, the report showed that Cairo University`s scientific journals have achieved top rankings in the Arab world across various disciplines. For instance, the Faculty of Economics and Political Science journal secured the first position in the field of political science among 67 journals. Similarly, the Scientific Journal of the Department of Libraries, Documentation, and Information at the Faculty of Arts claimed the top spot among 18 journals. The Journal of Public Opinion Research at the Faculty of Mass Communication ranked second in the field of media and communication among 28 journals, while the Scientific Journal of Public Relations and Advertising at the same faculty secured the third position among 28 journals. The library and information science journal also ranked third among 18 journals.
A study of citation indices and research impact measurement revealed that Cairo University ranked fifth in the Arab world in terms of research impact, with 8,049 citations from 2,238 articles published in the university`s journals. The university also ranked ninth in terms of the number of citations, which reached 5,043 from a total of 1,608 articles.
Prof Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek, President of Cairo University, stated that these results reflect the university`s keenness to maintain top positions in international rankings and citation rates. This is attributed to the adherence of its scientific and research journals to international standards and its commitment to publishing distinguished research and studies, reflecting its researchers` excellence in various disciplines. Consequently, these journals have achieved these rankings by meeting international impact factor standards.
Cairo University President, Prof Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek, has emphasised the university`s commitment to supporting its researchers, including providing statistical analysis, language editing, translation services, and assistance in selecting suitable journals for publication.
In his remarks, Prof Mahmoud El-Sa’eed, Vice President of Cairo University for Graduate Studies and Research, praised the university`s achievements in the Arab Arcif results, emphasising the commitment of Cairo University researchers to international standards in research and publication that befits the university`s status, which continuously drives it to achieve prominence in international institutional reports. He stated that this report affirms the excellence of the scientific and research journals published by the university’s faculties, reflecting the capabilities of its researchers and their mastery of research tools within their respective fields, ultimately contributing to improving the university`s rankings in international classifications.
