Under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadek, President of Cairo University, and Prof. Wessam Nasr, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, the Women and Media Research and Studies Center—headed by Dr. Nermin Ajwa, Director of the Center and Professor in the Department of Public Relations and Advertising—organized an extensive seminar titled "Inspiring Mothers Making an Impact." The event was held to celebrate inspiring female models who have left a true mark on society and to honor the Egyptian mother, who daily writes a story of patience and strength, embodying a devotion given in silence to leave an indelible impact.
The celebration commenced with an introduction by Dr. Alaa Fawzy, Lecturer in the Department of Public Relations and Advertising, who emphasized that this forum celebrates women who have achieved success and left a tangible impact both within the faculty’s halls and beyond.
In her speech, Prof. Wessam Nasr, Dean of the Faculty, welcomed the attendees, expressing her happiness at meeting to celebrate Egyptian models who are pioneers in various social fields and examples of patience and perseverance. The Dean stressed that the Faculty of Mass Communication serves as a role model in highlighting these figures, paying tribute to the organizers of the event which demonstrates the faculty’s leadership and excellence in all social and humanitarian fields.
Furthermore, Prof. Wessam Nasr announced that this event is launched under the umbrella of the "Athar" (Impact) platform. This is a Cairo University platform dedicated to students (currently in experimental operation) and is scheduled for official launch next September. The platform aims to receive student contributions in all service, social, and cultural activities; it is a public platform available to all university students, and participants receive official certificates of participation.
The Dean explained that the seminar is part of the faculty’s and the Women’s Research Center’s plan to coordinate with the platform "Athar: Leave Your Mark to Build Your Tomorrow," expressing great joy in honoring the faculty’s models on professional, academic, and social levels, and stressing the faculty`s keenness to ensure this celebration of women remains an annual tradition.
.
The event witnessed exceptional moments of recognition for several academic and professional figures. Honorees included:
Prof. Najwa Kamel, Professor in the Department of Journalism.
Prof. Kariman Farid, Professor in the Department of Public Relations and Advertising.
Prof. Ibtisam El-Gendi, Professor in the Department of Radio and Television.
This recognition was in appreciation of their prominent role in addressing women`s issues within the faculty on both academic and humanitarian levels. Throughout their leadership positions, they focused on women`s causes and provided sophisticated, beloved models that serve as examples for all students. The honoring also extended to professional and humanitarian models from the heart of society, whose efforts and sacrifices were highlighted during the seminar.
In her speech, Dr. Nermin Ajwa, Director of the Center, emphasized the active and prominent role played by the Women’s Research Center at the faculty, stating: "Honoring inspiring mothers today is an honoring of influential figures in society at the scientific, academic, and humanitarian levels."
.
She continued, describing the honorees with heartfelt words: "The sophisticated Dr. Najwa; Dr. Kariman, a professor with the rank of a mother; and the cheerful Dr. Ibtisam. A mother is the one who creates an impact in society and in her family." She explained that this event celebrates Mother’s Day and sheds light on inspiring models who have left a real mark in education and life, honoring pioneering women who built competencies and acted as mothers to their students.
Dr. Nermin concluded her speech by stressing that the seminar carries a beautiful humanitarian aspect, as it celebrates models of mothers in society who overcame life`s difficulties with patience, saying: "The mother is the source of giving and strength, and she is the one who creates the impact in the family and the entire society."
