Under the slogan “Continuous Giving”: Cairo University celebrates the International Day of the Elderly

    Cairo University Center for Science and Elderly Care, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Othman El-Khosht, President of the University, and the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, organized a celebration on the occasion of the “International Day of the Elderly” under the slogan " Continuous Giving", in the presence of a group of public figures, and a group of faculty members and university employees, at the conference center in the university city.
    The celebration came within the framework of the university’s participation in the celebration of the International Day of the Elderly, which is the day set by the United Nations to celebrate the elderly since 1990 to shed light on the most important issues related to their care, the problems they face, the services provided to them and their rehabilitation, and the celebration includes a number of educational and awareness lectures On the psychological and social aspects of the elderly in Egyptian society, and the medical service for the elderly between reality and expectations.

    During the celebration, a number of heroes who contributed to the October 1973 war, whether from members of the center or from outside, were honored, and a number of personalities who contributed to supporting and enriching the center and its various activities and contributed to raising awareness of the center`s goals and its role in community service.
    It is noteworthy that the Center for Elderly Sciences and Care at the university was established in 2002 to serve the elderly among the faculty members and employees of the university and from all governorates. Labs and radiology centers.
    Recently, a special issue of “Voice of the University” newspaper, issued by the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University, was published on “Life after Sixty”, on the occasion of the International Day of the Elderly. Some of the problems facing those who reach the age of retirement, and the file presented some suggestions for activities that could be practiced by those who reached the age of retirement, and presented the success stories of a number of artistic and sports personalities and their major achievements after sixty.
