Egypt and UAE sign agreement to establish wind energy projects

    Egypt and the United Arab of Emirates signed an agreement to establish a 10 GW wind project in Egypt, making it one of the world`s largest wind energy projects. The agreement was signed between both the Infinity Power - a joint venture between Masdar and the Egyptian government.

    The Agreement was signed by the UAE side, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, UAE Special Envoy for Climate Change and Chairman of the Board of Directors "Source", and from the Egyptian side, the Minister of Electricity, Mohamed Shakir, on the sidelines of the climate summit, the wind power plant will produce a capacity of 10 gigawatts when completed 47790 gigawatt hours of clean energy annually and will contribute to avoiding the emission of 23.8 million tons of carbon dioxide, approximately 9% of Egypt`s current CO2 emissions
    .

    "Green Corridor Initiative" in Egypt, a network dedicated to renewable energy projects, while contributing to Egypt`s goal of ensuring that renewable energy forms 42% of the energy mix by 2035.
    Egypt`s new onshore wind plant provides an estimated $ 5 billion in annual natural gas costs in addition to providing up to 100 thousand jobs ", while direct employment in the construction phase is estimated at approximately 30 thousand persons, It will also employ some 70 thousand people indirectly, together with about 3200 posts for operation and maintenance after the end of the plant`s construction.
