Cairo University Launches Safety and Occupational Health Week Activities

    The Community Service and Environmental Development Sector organizes Occupational Safety and Health Week, under the auspices of Prof. Dr.Mohamed Othman Al-Khosht, President of Cairo University, and under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed Sami Abdul Sadik, Vice-Chancellor of the university for Community Service affairs. Through which a series of lectures, seminars, workshops and practical training are held in various faculties and institutes of the university, for the purpose of building a general culture among workers about safety and health requirements in the workplace.

    Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Khosht stated that the allocation of a week for occupational safety and health reflects the University`s commitment to provide a safe and sound working environment governed by plans and programmes that are concerned with crisis preparedness and speedy handling responses. .

    From his side, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Sami Abdul Sadik explained that the events began and continued throughout the first week of November, that was held and still going in the faculties of Engineering, Mass Conmunication, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, Physiotherapy, Agriculture, and Nursing, awareness-raising lectures and training on methods of firefighting, preventing the spread of fire and reducing the losses resulting therefrom with plans to evacuate individuals at the time of contingency and guide them to pre-defined gathering points, as well as to form and train crisis management teams and identify their mandated tasks. Beside organizing seminars on the risks of climate change and its impact on occupational safety and health within the working environment. .

    Moreover, The rest of Cairo University faculties complete their role in holding awareness lectures and practical training on occupational safety and health for workers, students and faculty staff during the coming period and until the end of this week.

    It should be noted that the main objectives of Cairo University to achieve this effectiveness are to ensure the protection of the human factor from injuries caused by the risks of the working environment, Through their exposure to accidents, injuries and occupational diseases, as well as preserving the physical components of the installations with the devices and equipment they contain to protect them from damage as a result of accidents, as well as ensuring the implementation of all occupational safety and health requirements that ensure a safe environment for risk prevention, since this helps to reassure workers in the course of their work. .
