Dr. Yasmeen Fouad, minister of environment, ministerial coordinator, and climate conference COP27 envoy, stressed on the importance of protecting natural resources and preserving their sustainability because it is a right for future generations, which is why it’s important to unite world efforts to restore natural resources and protect it from climate change effects. This is a global environmental challenge that affects different sectors and the nature of human needs, to save our planet with implementing solutions that match with the aspirations of the world.

This came during the speech of Dr. Yasmeen Fouad in the opening of the Global Landscape Forum, on the sidelines of COP 27, in the attendance of Co Part vice chair of the intergovernmental panel on climate change, Mr. Paul Polman the ex-CEO of Unilever, Mr. Peter Mining manager of CIFOR-ICRAF Africa, Mr, Sukarno Laman, along with representatives of international bodies and organizations, development partners, private sector and the youth. .

Dr. Yasmeen Fouad added that the Egyptian presidency`s choice of the slogan “together to implement” for the COP27 conference was to gather international support in thinking realistically and in a way that can be executed so we can integrate the environment into all development plans along with paying attention to the environment and landscapes to reduce the environmental risks that are threatening the world. .

She also stressed Egypt’s sense of obligation to devote attention to mobilizing efforts to protect natural resources in the southern part of Africa, that’s done through providing several initiatives presented in this context like the Agriculture and Food Systems Initiative for Rapid Sustainable Transformation, and the I-CAN initiative.
Dr. Yasmeen Fouad pointed out that the goal of the conference is to evaluate the development since the last COP26, in addition to an invitation to a fair transition to becoming carbon-free to achieve global ambitions in climate work, and transforming goals into executive projects that meet global efforts aimed at just and equitable development for all.
At the end of her speech, she expressed her happiness about the landscapes we get to witness and the importance of gathering efforts to preserve them.
