On the sidelines of the COP: Ministry of Trade and Industry intends to locally manufacture household appliances

    Engineer Ahmed Samir, Minister of Trade and Industry, held an extensive meeting with Hakan Bulgurlu, CEO of the Turkish international company Archlik, which specializes in manufacturing home appliances, to discuss the company’s future projects in the Egyptian market.     The minister said that the meeting reviewed the project that the company plans to launch in the Egyptian market at the end of next year to manufacture household appliances with investments of $100 million and a production capacity of 1.5 million devices annually and providing 2,000 direct job opportunities in order to meet the needs of the local market and export abroad, noting that the company aims to It takes Egypt as a center for manufacturing and exporting its products to foreign markets and aims to allocate 60% of its production for export.

    Samir pointed out that the company’s investments in the Egyptian market include, besides production and employment, the transfer of technology and knowledge and the production of high-value-added products, especially that the company has 30 years of experience in the field of research and development, noting that the company adopts the principles and goals of sustainable development through products Maintain the safety of the environment.

    He pointed to the ministry`s keenness to encourage foreign companies wishing to pump new investments in Egypt in light of the favorable business environment that Egypt currently enjoys, as well as the steps taken by the state to encourage and enhance the investment climate and seek to localize the local industry, pointing to the government`s keenness to overcome all obstacles facing the country. Investors to contribute to making Egypt a destination for foreign investments that meet the needs of the Egyptian market and export to regional markets, and to benefit from free and preferential trade agreements signed between Egypt and a large number of countries and major regional and global economic blocs.

    For his part, Hakan Bulgurlu, CEO of the Turkish international company Archlik, stressed the company`s keenness to be present in the Egyptian market and make it a regional center for export, development of nutrient industries, research and development, and recruitment of competencies, praising the support received from the Ministry regarding the issuance of the construction license in a short time in preparation for the start of project construction procedures.

    He explained that the company was established in 1955 and includes 12 brands, distributes its products in 48 countries, owns 28 factories in Turkey and 8 countries in Africa, Asia and Europe, and employs more than 40,000 people, pointing out that the company is one of the Turkish holding companies of Koç Group, which is the largest investment group in Turkey and specializes in in the fields of home appliances, finance, energy and the automobile industry.
    Pointing out that the rest of the companies affiliated with the Koch Group are also considering investing in Egypt in the fields of industrial engines, electric car chargers and financial technology, in addition to tourism, health care, energy and the automotive industry.
