Dr. Hani Swailem, Minister of Irrigation, expressed his happiness with the official launch of the adaptation initiative in the water sector at the conclusion of the “Water Day” activities, which will represent an important turning point in the climate conferences, as this initiative will become the starting point for taking measures and implementing projects on the ground for adaptation in the water sector, and to achieve the 2030 Water Vision and achieve the sixth goal of the sustainable development goals related to water.
Swilam reviewed the path taken by Egypt and its international partners to integrate water into the global climate file, pointing to the important role of the Fifth Cairo Water Week, which was held last October, on this path, passing through the water activities of the current climate conference to the United Nations mid-term review conference scheduled to be held in March 2023.
