Al-Mashat moderates “Women and Climate Finance” session

    In a panel discussion on “Women and Climate Finance” moderated by Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, the pioneer of the Egyptian presidency of the COP27 climate conference, Jay Collins, Vice President of Citibank, Barbara Rambosek, Director of Inclusion and Women Empowerment at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and Hindu Somuro participated in a panel discussion on “Women and Climate Finance” , Chair of an African Women`s Empowerment Foundation, Mafalda Doughty, Chair of the Climate Investment Funds Foundation (CIF), Amal Annan, Founder of the Lotus Fund for Women Empowerment and Sustainable Solutions, and Professor Anthony Nyong`o, Director of the Global Center for Adaptation.
    During this session, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, stressed that empowering women is one of the main axes and solutions that must be worked on to confront climate changes and their negative repercussions, pointing out that women are among the groups most negatively affected by these changes, especially in rural and less fortunate areas in development efforts.
    She stressed that the last decade has witnessed a growing interest in efforts to empower women, equal opportunities between the sexes, improve girls` access to educational opportunities, and occupy leadership positions. Despite this, the challenges facing the world at all levels, especially with regard to climate change, prevent women from obtaining their full opportunity, which is what It requires sustainable solutions to adapt and support the role of women in facing these challenges.
