 (343)

UN climate talks that were supposed to end Friday were extended by another day as negotiators seek to break a deadlock over creating a fund for nations hard hit by global warming impacts.
Sameh Shoukry, Egyptian Foreign Minister and President of the Climate Conference in Sharm El-Sheikh, announced the extension of negotiations between the participating parties until Saturday.
While presiding over one of the sessions at the Climate Summit, Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry said that the decision to extend the activities of the conference, which was scheduled to end today, came in response to the proposals of various parties, in an effort to achieve progress on a large scale to confront climate change, as well as in line with Egypt`s clear awareness of the gravity of the global climate challenge.

It is expected that the concluding recommendations of the conference will witness urgent implementation steps for the ambitious goal of preserving the Earth`s temperature and confronting climate change with appropriate solutions and appropriate financing.
The year 2022 witnessed several disasters related to climate change, including floods and droughts that affect crops, and widespread fires. Therefore, the Conference of the Parties on Climate (COP27) organized by the United Nations in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, aims to increase the commitments of about 200 participating countries to reduce this scourge.
