MCCU Students Union elections round Starts … Faculty Dean checks on the progress of the student elections

    Today, Sunday, December 4, the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University, launched the elections round for the members of the Faculty of Mass Communication Students Union, for the first year, where students compete for the seats of the three scientific, social, and families committees, under the auspices of Dr. Mohammad Othman Al-Khosht, President of Cairo University, under the supervision of Dr. Hanan Gunaid, Dean of the Faculty.
    At the beginning of the activities of the Student Union elections round, Dr. Hanan Gunaid, inspected the headquarters of the Student Elections Committee in the Round Table Hall on the fifth floor, where the ballot papers were distributed to the students. Dr Hanan reassured the progress of the electoral process and its easy organization, through the members of the Student Elections Committee under the supervision of Dr. Hayat Badr, with the assistance of the Department of Youth Welfare at the Faculty and its President, Mr. Ayman Mounir, and Mr. Mohamed Atef, Deputy Director of the Youth Welfare Department. .

    The dean said that the faculty had prepared well before the start of the student union elections round, explaining that the directives of the university president emphasize full commitment to transparency and integrity in the electoral process, standing at the same distance from all candidates, and emphasizing not allowing interference in any way with the will of students, and insisting on transparent and fair elections, and not to use political, religious or sectarian propaganda, and that the propaganda be personal to the student in the activities or services he has accomplished or offered to the students.
    Dr. Hanan Gunaid added that the preparations of the Faculty to start the student union elections for the current academic year 2022/2023 came within the framework of keenness to provide an experience for the practice of true democracy, within the framework of what was announced by Dr. Mohamed Othman El-Khosht, President of Cairo University, the formation of a higher committee to supervise the electoral process at the university and work on following up the elections, starting from the opening of the door for application and candidacy, and the electoral campaign period until the announcement of the results.

    From her side, Dr. Salwa Al-Awadli, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, said that the faculty has fully prepared for the elections of students` union, and that the student elections come within the framework of the university`s keenness to enhance the role of students and participate in decision-making through the student electoral experience, explaining that the faculty is keen to facilitate all special procedures for the process in order to come out in an honorable manner befitting the prestige of the faculty and the university.
    The Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University, announced that 64 candidates have applied for the student union elections for the current academic year 2022/2023, after withdrawing 72 forms for those wishing to apply for the student elections, which began last Thursday, November 24, with the opening of the candidacy door, and the announcement of the preliminary lists on November 27, and then the stage of receiving appeals began on November 28, and appeals were examined on November 29, until the final lists were announced on November 30.
