Minister of Higher Education welcomes Lebanese Ambassador to Cairo

    Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received Ambassador Ali Al-Halabi, Lebanese Ambassador to Cairo; To discuss aspects of cooperation between Egypt and Lebanon in the fields of higher education and scientific research, in the presence of Dr. Ashraf Al-Azazy, Head of the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector, at the Ministry’s headquarters.
    At the beginning of the meeting, the minister stressed the depth of the historical relations between Egypt and Lebanon, noting that Egypt pays special attention to Arab relations, and is keen to maximize and multiply aspects of cooperation with Lebanon, to establish close cooperation relations, and to provide full support to our Lebanese students studying in Egyptian universities.
    During the meeting, the two sides discussed mechanisms to enhance cooperation between the two countries, especially with regard to increasing the grants offered annually to Lebanese students to study in Egyptian universities, especially in the field of medicine, as well as activating more cooperation between Egyptian and Lebanese universities in programs and areas of common interest, in addition to overcoming the difficulties Lebanese students face to study in Egypt.

    From his part, the Lebanese ambassador thanked the Egyptian government for its continuous support to its brothers in Lebanon, and its sponsorship of Lebanese students studying in Egypt, stressing his country`s keenness to support more aspects of cooperation between the two countries in all fields, especially cooperation between Egyptian and Lebanese universities in areas of common interest, noting that Beirut Arab University is a model for fruitful and constructive cooperation, which has obtained an advanced position in the international classification of universities. .

    It is worth noting that there has been a cultural agreement between Egypt and Lebanon since 1995, and there is an executive program between the two countries during the years 2009/2011. The number of scholarships offered to Lebanese students is 12 scholarships for the undergraduate level, and 5 scholarships for postgraduate studies, in addition to the signing of 8 agreements for joint cooperation between Egyptian and Lebanese universities, in addition to student exchange and joint supervision. .
