Cairo University brought down the curtain on the students’ elections in a transparent democratic atmosphere, under the auspices of Dr. Mohamed Othman Elkhosht, President of Cairo University. Student Abdullah Taha from Faculty of Mass Communication won the head of the University Student Union, and student Fatima Al-Zahraa from Faculty of Early Childhood Education as Vice President of the Union, after 4 students ran for the position of President and Vice-President of the University Student Union, and 7 secretaries of the higher committees were elected.
The election process took place for the president of the university students’ union and his deputy by secret ballot, with the participation of 40 students from the heads and deputies of student unions at the faculties of Cairo University. In the presence of Dr. Gamal El-Shazly, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Magdy Omar, Advisor to University President for Student Activities, and Dr. Jehan El-Manyawy, Coordinator of the Initiative for Egypt Family in Cairo University..

Dr. Al-Khosht congratulated the students who won the student elections, and directed them to expand the role of the union and the participation of all students in various activities with the aim of motivating them, refining their talents, supporting the spirit of competition between them, and choosing the best elements to participate in internal and external competitions.
The President of Cairo University affirmed that experience has proven that those who participate in student activities are more successful in practical life, explaining that this participation creates a part of the student`s personality, qualifies him to work within a team, and educates him with teamwork skills in any field of practical life.
Dr. Al-Khosht said that the university will provide full support and facilities required by their new role, stressing that the university is not only a place for learning, but rather for building the integrated personality of students, where work is done to discover talents and open creative paths for them, whether scientific, artistic, cultural or sports, and expand the student activity to discover and nurture creative energies through student activities through which the university seeks to change students` ways of thinking.

Dr. Al-Khosht explained that the student elections within the faculties passed quietly in accordance with the rules of integrity, transparency, and commitment to the ethics of democratic practice on the part of students to express their opinions, and this is what we have always known from university students, stressing the need for students to realize the value of Cairo University and the need to always preserve the name and status of the university.
From his side, Dr. Gamal El-Shazly added that our homeland has a great value that must be realized by everyone and must be given its right and that everyone should play his role towards it because whoever does not know the value of his homeland does not deserve to live on its land, directing the students to know the internal and external dangers that threaten our homeland and in order to preserve the security and safety of this country.
