Fahmy honors "Abu Zekry" and "Bella Tarr" during festival

    The Cairo Film Festival, in its 44th session, at its opening ceremony, which witnessed the presence of a huge crowd of film stars and filmmakers, honored the able director, Kamela Abu Zekry, with the “Faten Hamama Award for Excellence”, in recognition of her artistic career full of prominent works in cinema and television, and the great Hungarian director, “ Bela Tarr, who is considered one of the most prominent filmmakers in the world.
    The artist, Hussein Fahmy, the festival`s president, expressed his happiness at presiding over the festival once again, saying that Egyptian cinema has a great history, and it has the right to have a festival worthy of it, explaining that the festival`s management has restored the two films "Deputy in the Countryside" and "A Song on the Corridor" and make them available digitally.

    The opening ceremony began with a review of the songs of some of the films presented by the late artist Samir Sabry, in addition to presenting the jury for the festival’s competitions and taking memorial photos, followed by the presentation of the opening film “The Fabelmans”, directed by Steven Spielberg.
    It is noteworthy that the 44th session of the Cairo International Film Festival includes the full list of films in which 97 films participated, including 79 feature films, 18 short films, 10 classic films, in addition to the number of world and international premieres, including 30 shows, and the number of premieres in the Middle East. North Africa and 57 performances, and 52 countries are participating in this edition of the festival.
