    The Unit for Combating Violence against Women at Cairo University, under the auspices of Dr. Mohamed Othman Elkhosht, President of the University, and the supervision of Dr. Amira Tawadros, Executive Director of the Unit, organized a sports and entertainment day in the university’s sports city, in conjunction with the 16-day global campaign to combat violence against women, and in cooperation with the National Project for the Development of The Egyptian family, within the framework of the university’s keenness to support, empower and protect women from all forms of violence against them, and to contribute to the implementation of the national strategy axis for the advancement of women 2030. .

    Dr. Mohamed Al-Khosht said that Cairo University has an effective role in promoting social values, raising the level of awareness and raising awareness of women’s issues, shaping the culture of youth of both sexes towards women, and changing their way of thinking about life orientations related to various women’s issues such as protecting and empowering them, and thus establishing a university community characterized by Peace and security for all and the advancement of community culture. .

    For her part, Dr. Amira Tawadros, Executive Director of the Unit, explained that the sports and entertainment day was attended by about 165 male and female students from various faculties of the university. During the day there was an overview of the national project for the development of the Egyptian family and how to report a complaint, in addition to a tanoura show, an interactive puppet theater, a choir for children of determination, and joint sports group games aimed at consolidating a culture of cooperation between the sexes, respect for difference, and the empowerment of women. .

    It is worth noting that the Unit for Combating Violence against Women at Cairo University was restructured in July 2018, under the guidance of Dr. Mohamed El-Khosht, to become the Unit for Combating Violence against Women instead of the Unit for Combating Harassment only, to include all aspects of violence, abuse and harassment. Its policy is based on 3 main axes, which are the awareness axis with the aim of raising awareness of all university employees about the issues of violence against women, its forms and how to confront it, the legal and psychological support axis with the aim of establishing a complaints mechanism within the university, and the empowerment axis, which aims to enable the girl to defend herself, and to know her rights and how to obtain them and enable them to be financially independent.
