Two graduation projects in the English Section won in Media Committee competition of National Council for Women

    Two graduation projects in The English Section at the Faculty of Mass Communication Cairo University have won prizes in the Scientific Research Competition 2022 and the projects of the Media Committee of the National Council for Women, headed by Prof. Dr. Suzanne Al-Qalini. The Two graduation projects are the documentary Hely El-Dfayr “Loosen the Braids” and the radio project Women Only “lel Saydat Fakat”. .

    Hely El-Dfayr “Loosen the Braids” is under general supervision of Dr Nermin Al-Azraq, Head of the English Section, and supervised by Dr. Menna Allah Abdel-Hamid, lecturer in the Radio and Television Department, Ms. Nada Ehab teaching assistant in RTV department, and Mr. Hani Samir, director and producer of documentaries. The distinguished students of the project are Farah Ali Al-Laithi, Donia Muhammad Jamal al-Din, Dina Ramadan, Mayada Magdy, Menna Ashraf, Habiba Tarek, Hanna Mohamed Hamed, Haneen Bandar, Salma Ahmed, Walaa Hassan, Heidi Ahmed, and Nehal Osama.
    The Documentary Hely El-Dfayr “Loosen the Braids”, is portraying how women in Upper-Egypt chose art as a form to express their struggles and problems in an attempt to create change in a very closed society as El-Barsha village. Panorama Barsha is the perfect example of strong women who defied their fears and social norms in expressing their emotions and problems through street theater with the hope of changing mindsets in their village (El- Barsha) and even all over Upper-Egypt.

    The Radio Project Women Only “lel Saydat Fakat”, is under general supervision of Dr Nermin Al-Azraq, Head of the English Section, and under supervision of Dr. Jihan Abdel-Hamid, lecturer at the Department of Radio and Television, and Ms. Doaa Essam teaching assistant and Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud, Director of Documentary Programs at Voice of the Arabs Radio. The distinguished students of the project are Tasneem Imam, Nouran Muhammad, Noor Elganna Ahmad, and Dina Hisham.
    Radio Graduation Project Women Only “lel Saydat Fakat”, is an investigation into a societal and legal problem affecting every Egyptian woman, namely honor crimes or - in the legal term - crimes of adultery. In the elapsed period, the killings against women under the name, after researching the cases whose roots go back to the honor law of the offender, and giving him the right to take lives under the pretext of honor, and this is not the only problem, the law justifies the crime for the man only, while the woman is held accountable for premeditated murder. .
