Minister of Higher Education Meets His Sudanese Counterpart to Discuss Ways Of Joint Cooperation

    Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received Dr. Mohamed Hassan Dahab, Sudanese Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and his accompanying delegation; to discuss ways of joint cooperation in the field of science, technology and innovation, at the Ministry`s headquarters.
    At the beginning of the meeting, the minister affirmed the depth of relations between Egypt and Sudan, especially in the fields of higher education, scientific research and technology, pointing to the ministry`s keenness to enhance and consolidate these distinguished relations, and bring them to more distinguished levels.

    Dr Ashour pointed to Egypt`s keenness to maximize and multiply aspects of cooperation with brotherly countries, and to constantly strive to support and build development efforts, pointing to the ministry`s interest in providing support to Sudanese scholars in Egyptian universities, and providing them with the best education, praising the increasing number of Sudanese students in Egypt this year, with more than 16,000 students.
    The minister affirmed Egypt`s support to Sudan in all fields of development, and the importance of activating cooperation between Egyptian universities and their Sudanese counterparts, establishing scientific forums, exchanging experiences, and implementing joint research projects and programs aimed at reaching solutions. Unconventional for many of the challenges facing the two countries.

    During the meeting, ways of cooperation between Egypt and Sudan were discussed, and the possibility of increasing the number of scholarships awarded annually to undergraduate and postgraduate students in Sudan to study in Egyptian universities, as the total number of scholarships offered to Sudanese students so far amounts to 200.
    The two sides also discussed mechanisms for activating the executive program signed in 2019 between Egypt and Sudan in the field of higher education and scientific research. With the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation between universities and research centers in the two countries, exchanging research and educational delegations, as well as conducting joint applied research that serves the fields of industry, water, and new and renewable energy.
    For his part, the Sudanese minister praised the remarkable development witnessed by Egypt and its educational institutions during the era of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, thanking the government and people of Egypt for the support it provides to the government of Sudan, care for Sudanese students and overcoming all the difficulties facing them, stressing the distinguished and strong relations between the two countries.
