President of Cairo University during Science Day Celebration: “we succeeded in achieving the model of fourth generation universities”

    Cairo University, headed by Dr. Muhammad Othman ElKhosht, honored 140 scientists, thinkers, and researchers from Cairo University , who won all kinds of state awards and university awards for the years 2019, 2020, and 2021 on the seventeenth Science Day, under the auspices of Dr. Muhammad Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in the presence of a large number of Ministers, governors, senior public figures and statesmen, university vice-presidents and deans of faculties, faculty members and students.
    The activities of the Seventeenth Science Day began with entering the University Council procession into the Grand Celebrations Hall, playing the National Anthem, then reciting the Holy Qur’an by the reader Sheikh Mahmoud ElKhosht, then the speech of Dr. Muhammad Sami Abdel-Sadiq, Vice President of Cairo University for Community Service and Environmental Development, then Dr. Muhammad Othman ElKhosht gave a speech, after which a documentary film about the university was shown, then the ceremony began to honor a number of ministers and 140 thinkers and scholars.
    At the beginning of his speech, Dr. Mohamed ElKhosht welcomed the ministers, public figures, and scholars of Cairo University who received state and university awards, saying: The celebration of Science Day this year comes after the interruption of the previous two years due to the Corona pandemic, which prevented the celebration of many occasions in the interest of the safety of the participants, indicating He pointed out that this celebration comes as an affirmation of the status of science and scholars, stressing the university`s keenness to contribute effectively to the process of development and progress.
    The speech of Dr. Mohamed Elkhosht, President of Cairo University, focused on Cairo University entering the era of fourth generation universities and the transition towards a smart university, also revealed the efforts of the university and the extent of its development, stressing that the university succeeded in modernizing education and developing scientific research and innovation with the aim of achieving the national strategic goals of the country, saying that our role is to enable the creation of value to achieve comprehensive national development, and our approach is multidisciplinary innovation to serve national progress, pointing out that human capital is the graduation of professionals, scientists, entrepreneurs, artists, clients and participants in the ecosystem according to the Egyptian specificity.

    Dr. Elkhosht stressed that Cairo University entered the fourth generation through a large number of achievements, including the establishment and development of faculties for future jobs, new institutes and centers, the opening of the first college of nanotechnology for postgraduate studies in Egypt and the Middle East, in addition to the establishment of a center for psychological support and self-reconstruction. And a center for gifted care, and a training center for ethical dealing with experimental animals, as well as starting to establish the Faculty of Energy and Renewable Energy, the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Robot Applications, and the Faculty of Technology and Space Sciences at Cairo International University.
    Dr. ElKhosht referred to the establishment of new hospitals where Kasr Al-Aini emergency room was developed to become the largest emergency hospital in the Middle East by self-financing and raising the efficiency of Al-Batinah Hospital, and the establishment of Abu Al-Rish Hospital for outpatient clinics in cooperation with the Japanese JICA, and the development of a hospital Abu Al-Rish Al-Japanese and Abu Al-Rish Al-Munira Hospital, developing, expanding and raising the capacity of the Oncology Institute by 50% after the completion of the Southern Hospital, expanding and developing the Breast Cancer Hospital in the Fifth Settlement, in addition to completing 25% of the Kasr Al-Ainy Hospitals Development Project at a cost of one billion and three hundred million From self-financing so far, and the near completion of the first phase of the new National Cancer Institute (500500), the largest hospital for oncology in the Middle East, and the completion of Thabet Thabet Hospital.
    Dr. Elkhosht explained that the university has succeeded in advancing in the international rankings of the best universities in the world, led by entering the top 300 universities in the Dutch classification and the best 400 in the Chinese classification, advancing by one hundred centers at once, surpassing American, European, Japanese and Chinese universities. major, as well as the entry of 5 distinguished majors into the top 100 universities in an Egyptian achievement for the first time, which placed them among the top 1% of universities in the world.
    Cairo University also topped the universities and research institutions in the scientific research index according to the latest classification of the international database “SCOPUS” for the most countries and institutions that publish international scientific research in all disciplines, with a citation impact factor of 1.32, which is one of the highest global rates, in addition to the university’s innovative projects, as the university presented 268 innovative projects in all different fields.

    In addition to the advancement of the system of scientific research and international publishing, which contributed to the high rate of international citations for the university`s research by 43%, referring to the effective participation of the university in presidential, African, Arab and international initiatives, contributing to national projects, and launching major cultural projects such as the project to establish a new religious discourse, and develop The Egyptian mind, providing a creative and training environment for students that contributed to their excellence in international and local competitions, in addition to supporting the social dimension for faculty members, staff and students.
    During his speech, Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadiq, Vice President for Community Service Affairs, explained that the Science Day celebration at Cairo University for this year is witnessing the honoring of 140 scholars from its children who have received state and university awards.
    He reviewed the efforts of the community service sector in dealing with the Corona pandemic and the active participation in presidential and community initiatives, foremost of which is the "Decent Life" initiative, and the university`s launch of comprehensive development convoys.
    He also reviewed the university`s effective participation in the COP 27 climate summit, as well as the role of university centers of a special nature in serving community issues and contributing to national projects, in addition to the university issuing many publications, including the guide for services of centers and units of a special nature, and issuing the university`s intellectual property policy.
