Cairo University support for Medical Care Fund with more than 120 million pounds

    Dr. Mohamed Othman Elkhosht, President of Cairo University, received a report on the university`s success in supporting the social dimension of its faculty staff and students, and expanding services, facilities, support and privileges provided to them to ease their burdens, and provide them with competitive opportunities for personal development.
    The report reviewed the decisions and actions taken by the university to support the social dimension of its employees, including support for the medical care fund for faculty members, their assistants and university workers with an amount of 120 million pounds, maximizing the fund’s resources to improve the services provided, and increasing the maximum limit for them upon reaching the retirement age to 150 thousand pounds from the fund. The fellowship, reducing tuition fees and the services provided by the university for them and their children, and commissioning the largest chain of pharmacies to provide and dispense medicines throughout the Republic in 235 branches.

    The report also reviewed aspects of the university`s support for faculty members, including increasing the rewards for teaching distinguished programs, increasing the fees for teaching in blended education, doubling the rewards for supervision and arbitration for master`s and doctoral theses at the university, and rewards for international publication by 100%.
    The report dealt with the privileges offered by the university to employees, including a large movement of promotions at the university level, correcting the supplementary wage, adding the bonus, amending the contractual form of many employees, and approving the implementation of all judicial rulings regarding any financial dues for employees and professors.

    The report referred to aspects of the university’s support for students, such as exempting students whose family died during their studies from tuition fees, full exemption for students of regular programs who won first place in official, local and international competitions, and 10% for students of special programs, and accepting treatment of sick cases from students in all hospitals and units. The university bears all costs, supporting students who are unable and with disabilities with a tablet device to keep pace with the electronic education system in the university’s facultys, expanding the services provided by the Social Solidarity Fund for students, taking care of students with special abilities and the blind by providing them with financial and in-kind subsidies, which are represented in Buying prosthetic devices, wheelchairs and medical watches, which will help them complete their university studies in a better way.
    The report also indicated that the university paid tuition fees in 2022 for 12,077 male and female students, exceeding 8 million pounds, and 431 thousand pounds were disbursed from the Social Solidarity Fund, according to rules that guarantee social justice, the application of the rules of social solidarity, assistance to everyone who deserves support, and work to solve problems that confront them and prevent them from continuing their studies due to economic conditions or the inability of their families to earn money.
