Cairo University Receives American Delegation To Discuss Academic Collaboration

    Cairo University (CU) President Mohamed Othman Al-Khosht met with an American delegation on Monday, to discuss Academic and research cooperation between Cairo University and American universities.


    The delegation included representatives from universities including North Carolina State University, University of Alabama, University of California, University of Santa Cruz, and Colorado State University. During the meeting, Al-Khosht revealed that CU currently includes 27 faculties and institutes, about 270 thousand students, 14 thousand academic courses, 169 research centers, and 20 educational hospitals.


    Moreover, he answered questions from the delegation regarding the new global universities, where Egyptian, Arab and foreign students will get a chance to study. According to Al-khosht, the aforementioned universities - located in the 6th of October city - are established in collaboration with international universities and offer distinguished study programs on both the local and global levels, providing students with double degrees upon graduation.

    Furthermore, he showcased CU`s continuous efforts to bridge the knowledge gap with globally advanced universities, through developing educational curriculums and regulations and introducing new study programs that are up to date with current requirements from the labor market.

    He also revealed that CU has established the first faculty of nanotechnology in the Middle East, and is currently working on establishing a faculty for new and renewable sciences, a faculty for space science and technology, and a faculty for artificial intelligence and robotics, in its strive to implement all pillars of fourth-generation universities.

    For their part, the delegation applauded the outstanding progress witnessed by CU in the last 5 years in international rankings and scientific research, as well as the establishment of major educational entities to implement the strategies of fourth generation universities. This visit comes in light of the strategic plan developed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to encourage cooperation between Egyptian universities and globally top ranked universities. .
