After its great success in Saudi Arabia, the theatrical play ‘Charlie Chaplin’ has made its debut in Egypt. The play, which tells the story of the famous American actor who was one of the main developers of the cinema industry in the 20^th century, was performed for the first time in the Riyadh season in Saudi Arabia. Due to its overwhelming popularity, the producers, Hany Naguib and Ahmed Fahmy, decided to bring it to Cairo, and the performance started last month at Arkan Theatre.

The first performance of the play in Egypt was attended by many well-known actors and artists, such as Sawsan Badr, Dalia Al-Behairy, and Hany Ramzy, among others. The play stars Mohamed Fahim, Nour Kadry, and Ayman Al-Shiwy, and is directed by Ahmed Al-Bohy, with the scenario by Dr. Medhat Al-Adl.

In an exclusive interview with the director, Ahmed Al-Bohy, he shared his thoughts on the play and the backstage process. When asked about his opinion on the best night for a play, he said that every night is unique and distinguished in its own way.                                                         

Regarding what distinguished the ‘Charlie Chaplin’ show and made it so successful, Al-Bohy explained that it was presented in Broadway style with drama and shows, and it was the first time it was performed in the Middle East in this way. He further added that the show presented their ideas in interesting and attractive ways.

Al-Bohy also talked about the special thing that happened when the play was shown in Egypt after the Riyadh season for the first time. He said that they are always developing the show, but the surprising thing was the Egyptian public’s eagerness to attend the play despite the relatively high ticket prices. He expressed his satisfaction with the Egyptian audience, who showed appreciation for a real theatrical producer, which he had bet on from the beginning. .

One of the striking aspects of the ‘Charlie Chaplin’ show was the many advertisements and good marketing, which is not usually seen in theatrical performances. Al-Bohy explained that the lack of a clear marketing plan is one of the most common problems facing theatrical performances. However, his background as an engineer and holding an MBA enabled him to develop a good marketing plan using the latest marketing approaches.

The ‘Charlie Chaplin’ play is shown every Friday at Arkan Plaza Theater in Sheikh Zayed, and the price of tickets ranges from 600 to 2000 EGP. This distinguished theatrical show is not to be missed, and it promises to be an enjoyable experience for all theater enthusiasts.
