Abdel Gawad Abo Kab delivering Qualifications for Media Labor Market Course to EMCCU Students

    The English Section at the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University, organized a training course entitled Basics of Digital Transformation and Qualifying for the Media Labor Market. The course was presented by journalist and writer Dr. Abdel Gawad Abu Kab, Director of the Media and Digital Transformation Foundation.


    The course dealt with the basics of digital transformation and the skills required for a graduate to qualify for the media labor market and how to achieve success in the professional track.


    Dr. Abdel Gawad said that as a student you must know different cultures in dealing with sources and people, and from the most important skills that a media graduate should have is the Arabic language skills which are very important, as international jobs and positions now need Arabic speakers. Also media graduate should possess journalistic translation skills, and take training courses in Arabic language and phonetics.

    Dr. Abdel Gawad added that skills in using and dealing with modern programs on the computer, and using Word and Excel programs is a must, beside the basic skills of editing and graphic design and dealing with modern technological programs.


    Dr. Abdel Gawad touched on the importance of practical training during the university study period and the application of ideas on the ground, as this increases the student`s skills, also the need to develop the hobbies and skills that the student already possesses, as the whole world evaluates the individual by the general culture and skills he possesses, not by the external appearances.


    “The most important thing is discipline and commitment at work and during training”, Abdel Gawad added. The need to have a sufficient amount of general information and flexibility in work, possessing a sufficient amount of general knowledge and being aware of everything new in the technological fields to be updated.

    Dr. Abdel Gawad said: "Knowledge, then knowledge." Media students should search for good places for practical training, building relationships with people, building a network of sources, expanding the circle of acquaintances, working near talented personalities and benefiting from them. There is important need for practical training while studying at the university.


    Abdel-Gawad ended his speech by presenting a set of tips for building personality, which is self-confidence, self-marketing, and psychological preparation for work under pressure, acquiring experiences from the daily life experiences that the student is exposed to every day, and training that simulates reality.
