Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, announced the emergence of the results of the global QS classification, where 15 Egyptian universities were included in the classification for the year 2024, and this classification includes the ranking of the best 1500 universities in the world, which are evaluated by 104 countries, and the number of universities listed in this classification worldwide More than 31 thousand universities this year in this ranking.

The minister stated that Egyptian universities have made new progress in the results of this classification, with an overall increase from last year, stressing the interest of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to implement the mandates of the political leadership, to raise the ranking of Egyptian universities and research institutions in international classifications, and to apply the principle of international reference within the national strategy for higher education and scientific research launched by the ministry in March 2023.

Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, media advisor and official spokesperson for the Ministry, said that the Quacquarelli Symonds, QS classification is based on many criteria, including (academic reputation, the ratio of professors to students, academic research, the ratio of international professors, the ratio of foreign students, and the sustainability coefficient has been added to the current classification.

The spokesperson added that the progress of Egyptian universities in the various international classifications is due to several measures taken during the last period, the most important of which are: technical support provided by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to Egyptian universities, as well as training in international publishing, in addition to what universities are doing to motivate researchers. With all academic degrees for publication in prestigious international journals, the distinguished ratings enjoyed by internationally published scientific research in the work of scientific promotion committees, and the provision of information resources to researchers via the Internet and cooperation with the Egyptian Knowledge Bank.
