Dr. Mohamed Elkhosht, President of Cairo University, announced that a new achievement has been achieved in the international classifications of specializations by entering among the best 300-400 universities in the world in the Chinese (ARWU) Shanghai Classification of Scientific Subjects and Specializations (GRAS) for the year 2023, which is different from the general classification of Shanghai in which Cairo also advanced. One hundred places, in addition to achieving great rates of progress at the level of many scientific disciplines by entering among the top 100 global universities, topping Egyptian universities and many regional universities, under the umbrella of the strategic plan system for higher education headed by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Dr. Mohamed Elkhosht stated that the ranking of Cairo University according to the specific criteria used by the Chinese classifier (Shanghai) in classifying scientific subjects and specializations has become in the category from (301 to 400) globally, with an advance of 20% over previous years, indicating that thus Cairo University becomes among the first 1.1% of the top international universities in Egypt for the year 2023, ahead of the closest Egyptian university by about three hundred places, as the closest Egyptian universities are in the category (601-700), while Cairo University is in the category (301 to 400) out of three hundred thousand universities. Dr. ElKhosht said that Cairo University’s success in general progress was also followed by great progress at the level of scientific specializations, as a number of specializations ranked among the top 100 specializations in the world, namely: food science and technology, agricultural sciences, ranked 51-75 globally and first in Egypt, and pharmacy and science medicines ranked 76-100 globally and first in Egypt. Cairo University topped the Egyptian universities in 2023 in the general total of 13 diverse specializations, in addition to 4 main scientific sectors.
