Minister of Higher Education Receives President of Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland to Discuss Joint Cooperation

    Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received Dr. Andrea Nolan, President of Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland, and the delegation accompanying her, Ms. Naomi Graham, Vice President of the University for International Relations, and Dr. Islam Shiha, Head of Engineering and Mathematics at Napier University; To discuss ways to support cooperation relations in the scientific, research and technological fields, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabbagh, Advisor to the Minister for Technical and Technological Education, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.


    At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ayman Ashour emphasized on the fruitful cooperation between Egypt and the United Kingdom at the academic and research levels, extending over decades, which was recently reflected in the doubling of the number of British universities in Egypt, stressing Egypt’s aspiration to strengthen this cooperation, which reflects positively on various areas of bilateral cooperation.


    During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the successful areas of cooperation between Egypt and British universities during the last period, including the signing of an agreement between the Ministry and the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, and its accreditation of five universities in the field of dentistry as centers to embrace a qualification program for specialized fellowships, as well as the establishment of a permanent headquarters for the Royal College of Surgeons (RCSEd). ) in Egypt so that Egypt will be a hub for examinations and fellowships in the Middle East, pointing out the presence of a number of British university branches in Egypt, including (the British University of Coventry branch, the University of Hertfordshire branch, the University of London branch, and the University of Central Lancashire branch).

    For her part, Dr. Andrea Nolan praised the boom that Egypt has achieved in the higher education system in recent years, indicating that it will have a great positive impact in providing educational services to the entire Middle East and Africa region, and stressed that the university cares about its role in qualifying students and providing information technology services and various activities and opportunities that allow them By pursuing their skills and exercising their talents.


    The President of Edinburgh Napier University explained that the delegation is scheduled to complete its official visit to Egypt by visiting several Egyptian universities, including Alexandria University and the Naval Academy of Science and Technology. To discuss ways of cooperation, and to create joint academic degrees in study programs with interdisciplinary specializations, which is consistent with the Ministry’s strategic plan.
