The “ENACTUS” team from Helwan University won first place in the international competition “1 Race for Oceans” 2023 for its project “PLASEA”, in which the team participated on behalf of Egypt and were announced amongst “The Top Four” in the world. The idea of the project aims to reduce the plastic crisis that threatens fishermen and the marine life by producing alternative plastic products from seaweed plants.

The students participated in this competition with great support and sponsorship from Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of Helwan University, and Dr. Hossam Rifai, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs.

And from the strong support that the team got, Dr. El-Sayed Qandil, President of Helwan University, stressed on the provision of all support to encourage young people to develop innovative projects that contribute to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development.

The President of Helwan University expressed his pride in this great achievement achieved by Helwan University team, explaining that this achievement reflects the excellence of our university students, and their determination to provide innovative solutions to serve society and protect the environment. Dr. Qandil congratulated the university team on this great victory and urged them to move forward in their valuable contribution to building a better future.
