During his Participation as Keynote Speaker at “Going Global” Conference in Scotland: Minister of Higher Education emphasizes on development of Higher Education and Scientific Research System in Egypt

    Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, participated as a keynote speaker at the annual Edinburgh conference, “Going Global,” which is held at the Edinburgh International Conference Center in Scotland, United Kingdom, during the period from 20 to 22 November, the Minister gave a presentation on the progress and growth witnessed by the higher education and scientific research sector in Egypt on all tracks, explaining the most prominent achievements of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in recent years.


    It addressed the development of educational and research institutions to meet the needs of population growth and different segments of university-age students, as well as reviewing the most prominent actions the Ministry has done to develop various educational paths and provide new educational paths to enrich higher education and scientific research in Egypt, in addition to building new cadres of capable researchers and graduates.


    Dr. Ayman Ashour also reviewed the state’s efforts to invest in building new educational institutions, including private and technological universities, and branches of foreign universities, with the aim of expanding and diversifying the provision of various educational opportunities for students, attracting foreign students, and placing Egypt on the map of higher education and scientific research at the regional and international levels.

    The Minister also referred to academic outcomes in exchange for achieving comprehensive and regional development through the participation of universities in national development plans by establishing 7 geographical alliances, in implementation of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research that was launched last March, whose provisions included encouraging the establishment of alliances between institutions of higher education, productive, industrial and agricultural institutions, and transforming scientific research into an industrial product.


    The presentation also addressed the training and continuous learning strategy provided by future higher education institutions in Egypt, in addition to reviewing international partnerships and joint educational programs with advanced international ranking universities. With the aim of developing education, granting dual degrees, providing joint educational programs, whether at the undergraduate or postgraduate levels, and international accreditation of educational paths in Egypt.


    The presentation also touched on investment in the field of higher education in light of population growth, as well as shedding light on academic outcomes versus market needs and improving the employment of graduates through participation in the market and career development by qualifying graduates for future jobs, refining their skills, and facing the challenges facing economic growth, in order to achieve the goals of Sustainable development of the state (Egypt Vision 2030).
