Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Supreme Council of Universities and the British Council, on the sidelines of his visit to the United Kingdom during participation as a keynote speaker in the annual Edinburgh conference, “Going Global,” in Scotland, United Kingdom.

During the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding, Dr. Ayman Ashour, stressed the Ministry’s interest in partnership and international cooperation efforts, in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to focus on quality in higher education and scientific research, as they are among the most important tools for developing the educational and research system in Egypt, explaining that the Ministry seeks, through these efforts, to Strengthening the status of Egyptian education at the international level, benefiting from international expertise and experiences in the field of education and scientific research, and opening new horizons for Egyptian students and researchers to study and train abroad.

The Minister referred to the national strategy for higher education and scientific research that was launched in March 2023; With the aim of supporting investment in the human element, and enhancing its scientific and technical capabilities, to provide distinguished education within a competitive framework that gives graduates the ability to enter the local, regional and international labor market.

The Minister explained that Egypt is keen to enhance cooperation with the United Kingdom in all fields, including the field of higher education and scientific research, as they are vital fields that contribute to sustainable development. He expressed his thanks to the United Kingdom for its cooperation with Egypt in the field of higher education and scientific research, stressing that this cooperation will continue to expand and flourish during the coming period.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, representing the Supreme Council of Universities, and Mark Howard, Director of the British Council in Egypt, on behalf of the British Council.
