The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Egypt announced the launch of the eSIM technology for the first time in the Egyptian market, after the completion of the operation of mobile services (we, orange, Vodafone). The eSIM is activated through a QR code, and you can obtain it from the nearest branch of the mobile company you belong to or the one you want to deal with.

What is eSIM? It is a digital SIM card built into your mobile device instead of relying on traditional removable SIM cards. This chip allows customers to activate a data package from the telecom company without the need to use a SIM card, and this technology makes you. Make a regular phone call (with your phone number) using the Wi-Fi network and not the network of the mobile company to which it belongs and allows managing more than one phone number in one device, and provides flexibility for travelers outside the country,as eSIM allows them to easily activate a new SIM card in the country they are visiting without having to buy a local SIM card. Since eSIM is built into the phone, it is less vulnerable to theft and loss.

Activating the SIM card in Egypt represents a major step towards the future of digital communications, as this transformation is part of Egypt`s digital vision, which seeks to keep pace with developments in the field of global communications technology, supporting Egypt`s transformation towards a digital economy as it attracts global technical investments. The presence of this technology also encourages global smartphone manufacturers such as `Apple` to expand in the Egyptian market, and the presence of eSIM reduces import and manufacturing costs as it relies on the digital structure instead of plastic cards, this also improves environmental sustainability by reducing the use of plastic materials.
