The project aims to improve the quality of the educational system according to global standards and enhance education systems and outcomes.
The university president stated that the faculty submitted its project as part of the initiatives announced by the Ministry’s Excellence Support Unit to apply educational quality standards, integrate quality systems in accredited faculties with practical applications, and improve the efficiency of the educational process in line with Egypt’s Sustainable Development Strategy (Egypt Vision 2030). The project is specifically aimed at supporting the development of students` practical and professional skills.
.
Dr. Thuraya El-Badawi, Dean of the Faculty and Project Director, explained that the Ministry announced these competitive projects in July 2024, and the faculty submitted its project in October 2024. The Project Management Unit later announced the faculty’s success in securing the project with funding of 3,509,000 EGP, with the university contributing 40% of this amount. The project will be implemented by a team selected from the faculty’s academic staff and teaching assistants.
Dr. Laila Abdel-Meguid, former Dean of the Faculty and Executive Director of the Project, pointed out that the faculty`s motivation for applying for this project stems from its awareness of the need to develop professional skills required by the evolving job market. This includes high-demand future professions such as content marketing, data development, data editing, search engine marketing, news coordination, web content organization, 3D graphic design, content creation, and graphic design. Additionally, the faculty recognizes the importance of equipping students with emerging professional skills necessitated by these developments, such as creative writing, content marketing, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), digital design, media analysis, digital storytelling, AR & VR (Augmented and Virtual Reality) technologies, artificial intelligence, content management systems, visual content creation, image and video editing, and proficiency in word processing applications.
Within the scope of this project, the faculty will implement a series of activities over two years (the project duration) to achieve various outputs and benefits, including:
In-depth academic studies on future job roles and the professional and practical skills required of graduates.
Updated academic programs and curricula and an improved learning environment, keeping pace with communication technology advancements and labor market demands locally, regionally, and internationally.
Innovative and tested models for modern teaching, learning, and assessment methods that ensure students acquire practical and professional skills.
Developed evaluation tools and methods to measure students` acquisition of professional and practical competencies.
It is worth noting that alongside this project, the faculty also conducted a methodological study on labor market needs regarding practical and professional skills. The study examined the employment status of faculty graduates from the perspectives of both employers and graduates themselves. Additionally, the faculty analyzed student skill assessment results to identify gaps between current professional and practical skills and those expected, as well as to establish mechanisms for developing these skills.
