Minister of Higher Education discusses ways to support joint cooperation with ambassador of Japan in Cairo

    Dr. AymanAshour, Minister of higher education and scientific research, received Okah Hiroshi, ambassador of Japan in Cairo, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries in the fields of higher education and scientific research, at the ministry`s headquarters.
    At the beginning of the meeting, the minister stressed the distinguished relations between Egypt and Japan in the fields of Education, Higher Education and scientific research, which have resulted in many joint educational projects, referring to the Egyptian-Japanese University of Science and Technology Project "E-JUST", which represents one of the most important results of this cooperation, and a distinguished educational edifice, as it is a public Research University of a special nature, stressing the continuation of work in completing the next stage of university construction and expansion.
    The two sides discussed activating the memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two countries and holding more joint cooperation projects between the two countries in the research and academic fields.
    The two sides also discussed cooperation in technological universities, and the minister stressed Egypt`s keenness to benefit from the Japanese experience in this field, pointing to the priority given by the ministry to support new technological universities, within the framework of the state`s interest in technical education.

    The minister stressed that studying at Egyptian technological universities is concerned with the practical aspect, as the curriculum includes 60% of practical training for students in cooperation with partners in the industrial sector; in order to graduate students qualified to work directly in the labor market and equipped with skills and abilities that qualify them to compete locally and internationally, pointing out that Egypt welcomes cooperation with the Japanese side in the development of study and training programs at technological universities. .

    Dr. Ayman Ashour discussed with Hiroshi the strengthening of scientific cooperation between Egyptian and Japanese universities, especially in the field of student exchange through organizing student visits, exchanging faculty members, providing scholarships and conducting joint scientific research, especially in research areas of common interest.
    The minister pointed to the work of concluding more bilateral cooperation agreements and activating the current agreements between Egyptian and Japanese universities, pointing to the fruitful cooperation experience between the universities of Galala and Hiroshima, as well as joint cooperation with Ain Shams, Aswan and Cairo universities.
    For his part, Hiroshi stressed his welcome to support research and academic cooperation with Egypt, and the transfer of Japanese expertise in the field of higher education and scientific research to Egypt, pointing to the strong partnership between the two countries, and Japan`s pride in the experience of the Egyptian-Japanese university, which represents an important educational and Research Center in Africa, reflecting Japanese expertise in the field of education, especially in the academic disciplines it offers, including Engineering, Computer Science and technology, and artificial intelligence, stressing Japan`s interest in education with the human element, selecting the best students and providing practical training to achieve the highest level of qualification.

    The meeting was attended by Dr. Ashraf al-Azazi, head of the Cultural Affairs and missions sector, Dr. Haitham Hamza, head of the central department for missions and cultural representation, and Dr. Mustafa Rifaat, advisor to the deputy minister for international agreements
