Cairo University’s Faculty of Mass Communication concluded the activities of its 30th International Scientific Conference, titled “Health Communication and Empowering Contemporary Communities,” with a set of recommendations emphasizing the need for stronger collaboration between media and health institutions in serving public health issues.

Participants recommended enhancing cooperation between media outlets and civil society organizations to produce specialized awareness content that addresses the psychological and social aspects of patients and combats stigma and bullying. The conference also called for engaging media students in health awareness campaigns through practical training and launching initiatives such as a “Charity Work Day” to highlight the role of media in supporting health institutions.

The conference underscored the importance of expanding the use of social media platforms as effective tools for spreading health messages, particularly among youth, and empowering local and community media to cover the efforts of nonprofit hospitals that provide free medical services.

Participants stressed that health communication is no longer a luxury but a national necessity that contributes to building a more aware and resilient society. They also recommended establishing health communication units within academic institutions to prepare a new generation of media professionals specialized in this vital field.
