    Champion Ahmed El-Gendy, winner of the Modern Pentathlon gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, won the presidency of the Athletes’ Commission of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, succeeding Deputy Dr. Aya Medany, becoming by virtue of this position a member of the board of directors of the Egyptian Olympic Committee.


    The elections of the Athletes’ Commission of the Egyptian Olympic Committee resulted in the victory of all 23 nominated male and female athletes.


    Azmi Mohilba, a member of the national shooting team, was elected as the first vice president, while squash player Nouran Gohar became the second vice president. Additionally, volleyball player Doaa El-Ghobashy and handball player Mohamed Alaa El-Sayed Luka were chosen as members of the general assembly.


    The membership also included 18 athletes: Ziad El-Sisi (fencing), swimmer Farida Osman, basketball player Anas Osama, judoka Ramadan Darwish, wrestler Abdel Latif Moneim, badminton player Hadia Hosny, rower Ali Alaa, tennis player Mohamed Safwat, karateka Feryal Ashraf, track and field athlete Mostafa Amr, cyclist Ebtisam Zayed, table tennis player Omar Assar, weightlifter Ahmed Saad, gymnast Omar El-Arabi, rugby player Farida El-Gazzar, ice skater Sofia Aouni, boxer Abdel Rahman Arabi, and taekwondo player Aya Shehata.

    “El-Gendy,” the Gold Hunter



    Ahmed El-Gendy is one of Egypt’s most prominent athletes. He won the Modern Pentathlon gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics and the silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He began his athletic journey at the age of six by practicing swimming and running, winning several national swimming titles before later taking up shooting, fencing, and equestrian, eventually specializing in modern pentathlon.


    El-Gendy started his sports career at Tala’ea El-Geish Club before signing with El Shams Club.


    He achieved notable titles, winning two gold medals at the Junior and Youth World Championships in Portugal and the Czech Republic in April and August 2018, followed by a Youth Olympics gold medal in Argentina the same year, which qualified him for the Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Sports Creativity, which he won and was honored in the UAE alongside Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah.


    He won silver at the 2019 Modern Pentathlon Junior World Championship, then gold at the Senior World Cup, becoming the first since Aya Medany to win junior, youth, and senior championships.


    At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, he claimed silver in the men’s individual modern pentathlon, climbing from 13t .

    Nouran Gohar: A Love for Sports Since Childhood


    Nouran Ahmed Gohar is an Egyptian squash champion born on September 30, 1997. She studied at the Lycée Français in Cairo and began playing squash at the age of nine, alongside swimming, gymnastics, and table tennis, but she loved squash the most and achieved great success in it. She played for several clubs, including Maadi, Gezira, and Heliopolis, before settling at her current club, Wadi Degla.


    She played internationally before turning 13, competing in the African Individual and Team Championships and the Dutch Open, and won second place at the British Open Under-13 in 2010.


    In 2016, she won the Hong Kong Women’s International Open, becoming the first Egyptian woman to achieve this title.


    She also won the World Junior Squash Championship Under-19 twice in a row in Poland in 2016, without losing a single match. Her other international achievements include:

    Azmi Mohilba: A Distinguished History in Shooting

    Azmi Mohilba is a name frequently heard in global shooting competitions, having achieved many titles, most notably a World Championship gold medal. He began practicing shooting at 11 and joined the Egyptian national team at 14, competing in his first international championship at 15 while playing for Alexandria Shooting Club.


    Azmi participated in four Olympic Games: 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024. The 33-year-old has won more than 10 World Championship medals, including gold in 2022, bronze in 2023, and gold at the Cairo World Cup in 2024. He was the first Egyptian athlete to secure a spot in the Paris Olympics.


    Mohamed Alaa: A Long Journey with Handball
    Mohamed Alaa is one of Egypt’s most prominent handball players. He began his career at Al-Tayaran Club at age eight, staying for 20 years before joining Zamalek in 2017, where he won around 15 different championships. In July 2024, Saudi club Al-Noor officially announced his signing.


    With the national teams, he played a key role with Egypt’s military handball team, winning multiple continental and Arab titles, including the African Championship, African Games, and the Arab Championship.

    Doaa El-Ghobashy: First Egyptian Woman in Olympic Beach Volleyball

    Doaa El-Ghobashy is one of Egypt’s top volleyball players, representing Al Ahly Club. She began playing volleyball at six and has played for several clubs, including Ahly, Sporting, Wadi Degla, Shams, and Delphi.


    She started playing beach volleyball in 2014, competing in the African Championship and the Rio 2016 Olympic qualifiers, becoming the first Arab woman to qualify for Olympic beach volleyball. She described the Olympic participation as the most important milestone of her life, competing in Rio at just 19.
