Cairo University holds first IOM simulation at Egyptian university level

    The Cairo University organized the Final Conference of the IOM Simulation Model under the auspices of the University`s Rector D. Mohamed El Khosht, in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, the Organization of Migration, the Research and Migration Studies Unit and the Centre for Economic and Financial Studies, which is the first of its kind both at the Egyptian university level and at the international level, in the framework of the University`s desire to keep pace with changes in various political, economic and social spheres.

    Dr. Mohamed Osman Al-Khosht, Rector of Cairo University, said that the IOM simulation model was aimed at granting 179 students participating in the model, The opportunity for virtual inspection of migration issues facing the international community and their contribution to the identification of migration issues, Confronting negative images that may arise from irregular migration practices in addition to training them in leadership and decision-making and keeping abreast of all events at the local and international levels, Trying to find solutions to the various problems and issues facing Egyptian society.

    Dr. Al-Khosht stressed that Cairo University is keen to organize many simulation models for international and local organizations, thus contributing to the graduation of eligible elements to participate in various aspects of working life by providing students with the opportunity to participate effectively and demonstrate their outstanding creative energies, increase their awareness of international and local themes, business and institutions, and acquire research skills, communication, negotiation, critical thinking and collective action.
    Dr. Mahmoud Al-Saeed, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, said that the IOM simulation model included students from the faculties of economics, political science, information, rights, commerce, literature and medicine, and it is planned to present initiatives issued to the committees and ministries represented and partners in the activation of the model.
    Dr. Adel Rajab, Coordinator of the Migration Research and Studies Unit, noted that students involved in the model have been trained and qualified and sensitized on migration topics. Through several preliminary lectures on how to write policy papers and research papers education seminars on migration issues, with the participation and presence of many experts, specialists and officials from various ministries, institutions and local and international bodies concerned with migration.
