For the Fourth Consecutive Year: Cairo University’s Faculty of Mass Communication Honors Winners of the 2026 Ramadan Drama Public Opinion Poll

Under the patronage of Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadiq, President of Cairo University, and Dr. Wesam Nasr, Dean of the Faculty, the Faculty of Mass Communication hosted a major ceremony today to announce the results of its public opinion poll regarding the Ramadan 2026 drama season. The event was organized by the Center for Public Opinion Research and Studies, headed by Dr. Sahar Mostafa, and attended by a distinguished group of artists and drama creators.
Bridging Academia and the Arts
Dr. Sahar Mostafa opened the ceremony by welcoming the creators and media professionals. She expressed her pride in organizing this event for the fourth year running, highlighting the Faculty’s commitment to blending academic study with practical application. By tracking public trends through regular polls, the Center aims to measure viewer preferences and analyze their shifting attitudes toward media content.
Dr. Mostafa praised this year`s productions for addressing realistic issues touching Egyptian society. She extended special thanks to Mustafa Shaban, an alumnus of the Faculty, and Sameh Hussein, host of the program "Qatayef Ramadan," for their outstanding contributions to the season.
The Power of Purposeful Content
In her keynote speech, Dean Wesam Nasr welcomed the artists and representatives from various satellite channels and media outlets. She emphasized that the success of any dramatic work is the result of an integrated team effort.
"In a highly competitive season featuring dozens of works, series that connect with societal issues and touch the hearts of the audience are the most successful," Dr. Nasr stated. She noted that conscious drama can change behaviors and shed light on critical issues that require solutions. She also reaffirmed that the Center for Public Opinion Research and Studies is a leading entity at the Faculty, as its research reflects the audience`s awareness and their growing preference for high-quality, purposeful content.

Honoring the Stars of 2026
The ceremony included a short documentary highlighting the Center`s activities before moving to the awards presentation. The winners of the 2026 Ramadan season included:
Mustafa Shaban: Award for Dramatic Excellence.
Sameh Hussein: Honored for his social program "Qatayef Ramadan."
Tarek El Desouky: Honored for his role in the series "Ali Clay."
The Cast of "Narjis’s Tale": Recognized as the most-watched work according to the poll. Honorees included stars Ahmed Azmy, Elham Wagdy, and director Sameh Alaa.
Sahar Rami & Sabreen El Negily: Honored for their roles in the series "Two Others."
Jala Hesham: Won Best Rising Actress.
Karim Kassem: Honored for his excellence in the series "Mana`aa," alongside young actor Youssef Walid.
Media Recognition: DMC Channel and journalist Mohamed Tantawi (Managing Editor of Youm7) were honored for their support and coverage of the drama scene.
Key Poll Indicators
The survey was conducted on a sample of 1,100 Egyptian citizens. The results revealed significant viewership trends, with the following shows topping the list:
Ein Sehriya (Magic Eye) – Ranked 1st in viewership.
Hekayat Narjis (Narjis’s Tale)
Sohab El Ard (Friends of the Earth)
Etneen Gherna (Two Others)
