Egyptian Players Dominate the World Squash Rankings
Egypt’s national team players continue to dominate the world squash rankings. Mostafa Asal currently leads the men’s world rankings, while Hania El Hammamy tops the women’s rankings.
In the women’s category, Egyptian players have a particularly strong presence in the top 10: Nouran Gohar ranks second, Amina Orfi third, Nour El Sherbini fourth, and Fayrouz Aboelkheir fifth.
Egypt Crowned World Junior Team Champions
Egypt claimed the World Junior Team Championship title for both boys and girls. The tournament was held at Black Ball Sporting Club from July 21 to August 10.
Amina Orfi Wins World Junior Title for the Fourth Time
Amina Orfi won the Girls’ Under-19 World Championship title, held at Black Ball Sporting Club from July 21 to 26, securing her fourth world junior title.
Orfi captured the title after defeating her teammate Nadine El Hammamy in the final. Meanwhile, Mohamed Zakaria won the Boys’ Under-19 World Championship title at the same tournament.
Mostafa Asal Wins Palm Hills Open
Mostafa Asal claimed the title of the Palm Hills Open, held from May 22 to 27.
In the women’s competition, Nouran Gohar, star of Palm Hills Club, also won the Palm Hills Open title during the same period.
Meanwhile, Hania El Hammamy secured the title of the US Open, held in Philadelphia from October 19 to 25.
Nouran Gohar Wins the Tournament of Champions
Nouran Gohar won the Tournament of Champions, held in Toronto, Canada, from June 23 to 28.
Asal and Nour El Sherbini Crowned World Champions 2025
Mostafa Asal, Egypt’s World No. 1, won the World Squash Championship title, held in Chicago, USA, from May 9 to 17—marking the first world championship title of his career.
On the women’s side, Nour El Sherbini, star of Wadi Degla Club, claimed the Women’s World Championship title.
With this victory, El Sherbini secured her eighth World Championship title, equaling the all-time world record set by Malaysian legend Nicol David, who previously won eight world titles.
Ali Farag and Nouran Gohar Win Texas Open Title
Ali Farag, Egypt’s national squash team star and Wadi Degla player, claimed the title of the Texas Open, held in the U.S. state of Texas from February 18 to 23.
On the women’s side, Nouran Gohar also captured the same tournament title.
Hania El Hammamy Wins J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions
Hania El Hammamy, Egypt’s national team player and Wadi Degla star, won the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Cha .
Egyptian fencing also won three international awards during the International Fencing Federation Congress held in Bahrain in November 2025.
On the athletes’ level, Ahmed Hesham won the gold medal at the Junior Sabre World Cup in December 2025. He also secured Egypt’s first-ever medal at the 2025 World Fencing Championship in Georgia.
Olympic champion Mohamed El-Sayed claimed gold at the Epee World Cup in Canada. Meanwhile, Egypt’s Junior Epee Team (Under 20) won gold at the World Cup, and the Senior Epee Team also secured gold at the World Cup in Hong Kong.
Karate Achieves Several Titles in the World League
The Egyptian karate sport witnessed a historic and exceptional season in 2025, as Egypt dominated the global stage by capturing 92 international medals and was crowned first in the overall world ranking. It achieved unprecedented accomplishments thanks to gold, silver, and bronze medals from the World Championships and the World League, alongside individual brilliance from players like Abdalla Mamdouh, confirming Egypt`s leadership in this sport.
The senior national team topped the overall standings at the World Karate Championships held in Cairo. The senior team also garnered 4 medals (3 gold, 1 bronze). This year also saw the brilliance of Ahlam Youssef, Abdalla Mamdouh Youssef, and Aya Hisham. Egyptian players further excelled in the World League and Premier League championships; Egyptian athletes collected 17 diverse medals (6 gold, 4 silver, 7 bronze) at the World League in the UAE. In the Premier League (Cairo), Egypt topped the overall ranking with 11 medals (4 gold, 2 silver, 5 bronze).
Among the most prominent players was Abdalla Mamdouh, who was crowned with a gold medal in the World League (Paris), a gold in (China), and a bronze in (Cairo), and Youssef Badawy, who won the gold medal in the -84 kg weight category at the 2025 World Championships.
Seif Eissa and a Historic Gold in Taekwondo Olympic champion Seif Eissa achieved a historic feat by winning the gold medal at the World Championships in China, and he also received the award for Best African Player of 2025. Eissa is considered one of the most prominent Egyptian Taekwondo players, having achieved numerous accomplishments, championships, and African and international medals. Among Seif Eissa`s most notable achievements is winning the bronze medal at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics held in China. Additionally, Eissa won the gold medal at the 2015 African Games, as well as the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games, the Military World Championship title, and the World Team Cup.
The young player also topped the world Taekwondo rankings in 2017 and ranked fourth in the Olympic rankings the following year. Eissa holds five titles from Grand Prix championships and the World Team Cup, as well as five medals in the African Championship and others. He also won the gold medal at the Under-21 World Taekwondo Championships held in Kenya (under 54 kg category). Furthermore, Egyptian champion Moataz Bellah Assem achieved a major global feat after being crowned with the gold medal for the -58 kg weight category at the Under-21 World Taekwondo Championships held in Kenya.

Assar and Hana Write History in Africa National team player
Omar Assar won the silver medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh in table tennis competitions. He was also crowned with the African Cup title in February 2025, and then captured the men`s singles title at the African Championship in Tunisia during October, achieving his fifth continental title. Omar Assar is one of the most prominent Egyptian table tennis players; he won second place in the World Junior Cup in Japan in 2000. He also won the gold medal at the 2005 African Championship. In March 2018, Omar Assar was crowned at the African Championship in Kenya and qualified for the 2018 World Cup. He also won the Düsseldorf Masters Championship, becoming the first Arab and African player to achieve this feat. Omar participated for the third consecutive time in the Olympics. He won the gold medal at the 2013 Mediterranean Games and the gold medal at the Arab Championship in 2011, in addition to achieving a silver medal in the same championship. Omar Assar is the first Egyptian to reach the quarter-finals in Olympic table tennis competitions.
On the other hand, Hana Goda achieved the women`s singles title for the African Cup for the third consecutive time. Egyptian national team players Hana Goda and Dina Meshref also secured second place in the women`s doubles competitions at the Nigeria International Championship. Additionally, Hana Goda was crowned with the bronze medal in the World Junior Championships hosted by Romania. In the African Championship, the table tennis national team delegation was crowned with the African Championship cup held in Tunisia after winning seven gold medals in the men`s singles, women`s singles, men`s doubles, women`s doubles, mixed doubles, and teams.
In 2025, weightlifter Sara Samir won three silvers at the World Championships
in Norway (-77 kg) and secured gold and silver medals at the Islamic Solidarity Games. Her previous successes include three golds at the 2023 World Championships in Saudi Arabia and three golds at the 2022 World Championships in Colombia. After setting three African records, she qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics, where she won the silver medal.
Born in Ismailia in 1998, Sara Ahmed (Samir) was inspired by her father and brother to pursue weightlifting. She won her first championship at age eleven and made history at the 2014 Youth Olympics in China, winning gold in the 63 kg category. She became the first Egyptian woman to win an Olympic medal. At eighteen, she skipped her high school exams to train for the 2016 Rio Olympics, where she secured a bronze medal in the 68 kg category, becoming the youngest Egyptian to stand on an Olympic podium. Her extensive trophy room also includes six gold medals from the 2015 Junior and Youth World Championships in Peru and Poland, alongside numerous Arab and African titles.
