Egyptian universities participate in the Climate summit

    On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, a simulation model for Cairo University students for the “COP27” climate conference was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Cairo University, the National Anti-Corruption Academy, the National Institute and the Economic Government Project funded by the Agency for International Development. Al-Azhar University, Sohag University and the American University in Cairo also participated in the International Climate Conference with various activities.

    The door to progress was opened at the end of last May, the selected students were trained and equipped at the beginning of July, through lectures and workshops by experts in climate, environment, entrepreneurship, economics, media and strategic communication.

    Dr. Mohamed Othman Elkhosht, President of Cairo University, said that the simulation model for the international conference on climate change is carried out with the participation of about 200 students who are divided into groups, and each group of students represents a country participating in the conference and collects data on climate changes in this country and presents it in a model Simulation, which will be presented during the conference. The model comes on the sidelines of the conference in cooperation between Cairo University, the Ministry of Environment and the Economic Governance Project of the USAID.

    Al-Azhar University is also participating in the activities of the Climate Conference, where Dr. Salama Daoud, President of Al-Azhar University, is scheduled to deliver a speech entitled: “The Role of Religious Institutions and Religious Leaders in Facing Climate Change,” in which he addresses the role of religious institutions and religious leaders in defining the negative effects of climate change, and urging people to On preserving all natural resources, respecting the environment and not spoiling, not depleting nature, preserving it and working to confront this phenomenon, and the position of the religion of Islam towards this crisis is very clear in deciding that the environment must be respected in a legitimate respect.

    Sohag University also participated in COP 27, and Dr. Mustafa Abdel-Khaleq, President of Sohag University, announced that the university was selected among the 12 best Egyptian universities to participate in the activities of the Climate Summit.
