Dr. Elkhosht Discusses With The Mayor Of Tokyo The Means Of Enhancing Academic And Educational Cooperation And Exchanging Research Experience

    Dr. Elkhosht: There is a mutual agreement on preparing a cooperation protocol in various fields of common interest.

    The Mayor of Tokyo requested the expansion of areas of cooperation with Cairo University, expressed her thanks to the university for the years of study at the university, and praised the bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Japan.

    President of Cairo University, Professor Dr. Mohamed Othman Elkhosht, received Mrs. Yoriko Koike, Mayor of Tokyo, Japan, and her accompanying delegation in his office this morning as part of the mayor’s official visit to Egypt to participate in the COP27 Climate Change Conference. The meeting tackled ways of cooperation in the fields of education, culture, and peace.

    The discussion touched on many areas of cooperation and the exchange of educational and research experiences within the scope of mutual collaboration, and it was agreed to prepare a cooperation protocol in various fields. .

    The discussion also covered the experience of the mayor during her years of study at the Sociology Department at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, and her experience as the Mayor of Tokyo and as the Minister of Defence. The discussion aimed to highlight her experience so as to benefit from her administrative expertise.

    During the meeting, the Mayor of Tokyo recalled the years she spent at Cairo University, expressing her gratitude for that period and its impact on her life and what she has accomplished so far. Dr. Elkhosht said that Cairo University is proud of its graduates in all fields and from all countries of the world, who hold many leading positions around the world. He considers their success to be a success for Cairo University itself. The President also praised the Egyptian-Japanese cooperation in many projects.

    The Mayor of Tokyo, Mrs. Yuriko Koike, is the most prominent graduate of the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts, Cairo University. She finished her studies in 1976, then started her career in politics. She became a member of the House of Councillors, and then a member of the House of Representatives in several consecutive terms. She also held the position of the Minister of Defence and was elected as the first woman to be the Mayor of Tokyo. .
