As part of the societal role of the Faculty of Mass Communication – Cairo University, and under the auspices of Professor Dr. Wessam Nasr, Dean of the Faculty, and within the framework of the Women and Media Research Center`s interest in supporting women throughout various stages of their lives, Dr. Nermin Ali Ajwa, Director of the Center, organized a field visit to "Ommy" (My Mother) Home. The home is affiliated with the Al-Baqiyat Al-Salihat Association and specializes in caring for mothers with Alzheimer`s disease. The visit was conducted with the participation of students from the "Egyptian Footprint" graduation project under the supervision of Dr. Hala El-Sayed.

The visit featured the implementation of several interactive and humanitarian activities with the mothers, in an atmosphere filled with joy and positive communication. The visit also provided an opportunity to learn about volunteering opportunities and participation in the home`s activities to support its humanitarian role.

The visiting team received a generous and distinguished reception from the home`s management, led by Dr. Marwa Yassin, the head of the home, who provides an honorable model in continuing the journey of giving established by her mother, the late preacher Abla Al-Kahlawi.

The home reflects an integrated model of care, as the services provided are not limited to healthcare only, but extend to include psychological, social, and humanitarian aspects, ensuring the provision of a supportive environment full of attention.

Activities inside the home vary to include recreational, cultural, and physical activities, such as mental games and physical exercise inside the equipped gym, alongside farming and baking activities and the organization of field trips, contributing to the creation of an integrated daily life characterized by vitality and interaction.

The visit highlighted the importance of the quality of human relationships in the lives of the elderly, as the feeling of appreciation and attention from those around them represents an important factor in supporting mental health. This emphasizes the necessity of strengthening family communication and caring for fathers and mothers, without being distracted from them by the pressures of life or smart devices.

The Women and Media Research Center extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the management of "Ommy" Home and all those in charge of it, in recognition of their refined humanitarian efforts in caring for mothers and providing an exemplary model of integrated care.
