The third edition of the EGICA forum (EGICA3) concluded at Cairo University’s Faculty of Mass Communication, releasing a comprehensive package of scientific and professional recommendations to advance Arab media discourse. The forum emphasized the media`s dual responsibility in supporting women, children, people with disabilities, and mental health issues amidst rapid digital transformations.

Key recommendations from the forum included:

    • Inclusion & Disability Rights: Transitioning from a discourse of sympathy to a rights-based approach. The forum called for securing equal employment opportunities for qualified individuals with disabilities in media, ensuring fair representation, and ending negative stereotyping.

    • Child Protection & Digital Platforms: Launching a national project to train creators of children`s content and enacting a media code of ethics for children`s rights. Additionally, the forum urged enforcing a "Safety by Design" approach to hold digital platforms accountable and protect young users.

    • Mental Health & Family Awareness: Urging drama creators to accurately portray mental health, moving away from superficial depictions. Educational and religious institutions were also called upon to implement guidance programs promoting psychological resilience and family counseling.

    • Empowering Women: Unifying the media discourse across platforms dedicated to women`s issues to regularly showcase inspiring female role models.
