MCCU Honors Journalist Akram Al-Qassas With Faculty Shield

The Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University honored the journalist writer Akram El-Qassas, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of the Board of Directors and Editor-in-Chief of Youm7, on the occasion of winning of Youm7 in opinion poll conducted by the Faculty’s Public Opinion Research Center on media coverage of the COP27 Climate Summit.
Dr. Hanan Gunaid, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University, presented the journalist Akram El-Qassas with a certificate of thanks and appreciation, for Al-Youm7 obtaining the first place among private newspapers in providing the public with information about the COP27 climate conference.
The Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication Cairo University confirmed that the victory of Youm7 reflects the great follow-up of the audience to the website, especially since it occupies great credibility for news, objective treatment, and impartiality in dealing with topics and programs related to climate issues. .
Dr. Hanan Gunaid indicated that the respondents` evaluation of Egypt`s efforts in organizing the COP27 Climate Summit was high, as most of the sample`s evaluations ranged between excellent and very good, pointing out that the survey monitored the multiplicity and diversity of the media through which the respondents followed the COP27 Climate Summit. The introduction of these means is social networking sites, which ranked first with a rate of 84.3%, followed by electronic news sites in second place, then television channels, then the websites of official institutions, then radio stations and newspapers. .
For her part, Dr. Hanan Gunaid, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, said that the results of the opinion poll showed that the social network site, Facebook came as the most reliable site for respondents to obtain information and news about the Climate Summit, and the Presidency page on social network sites came first to the ranking of official institutions websites, Masrawy website at the forefront of news websites, dmc channel ranked first among TV channels, Nogoum FM radio station ranked first among radio stations, Youm7 newspaper website ranked first among private newspapers, while Al-Ahram newspaper topped the list of the most popular national newspapers the Egyptian public follow the news of the Climate Summit.
Dr. Sahar Mustafa, Director of the Public Opinion Research Center, explained that the opinion poll was applied to a sample of 1,500 media audiences, whose ages ranged from 15 years and over, from November 17 to December 19, 2022. .
